Bruno Fernandes reportedly wants his wages doubled in a new Manchester United contract and be on ‘parity’ with top earners like Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba.
The 27-year-old Portuguese midfielder has been a standout performer for United and established himself as a crucial part of the team since his £47m move from Sporting CP.
Fernandes’ form has been questioned in recent weeks, but the United star showed his worth by scoring a brace against Aston Villa in his side’s 2-2 draw on Saturday.
The Portugal international doubled his £50,000-a-week wages when he arrived at Old Trafford in January 2020.
However, it has now been reported that Fernandes is ‘looking for parity with leading earners’ at the Red Devils.
United have already attempted to renew the former Sporting star’s contract in November 2020, but Fernandes’ representatives turned down the new deal.

The Athletic now reports that United are ‘relaxed about the situation’ involving Fernandes and are ‘under no pressure to re-sign’ Fernandes.
However, Fernandes is keen to secure a bumper contract and see his wages rise to a hefty £200,000 per week.
The aforementioned increase in wages would put Fernandes alongside the likes of Martial, Pogba, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani.
According to The Athletic, it is believed that United captain Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are “close” to £200,000-a-week figure.
Cristiano Ronaldo is United’s highest-earning player on a lucrative £385,000-per-week deal after his sensational return to the club last summer.
David de Gea is the second best-paid player at Old Trafford behind the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, with the United No 1 earning a hefty £375,000 per week.

Fernandes is under contract with United until 2025, but the Red Devils have ‘temporarily shelved’ talks over a new deal.
However, United and Fernandes’ representatives are expected to resume negotiations in May when both sides are ‘clearer about the team’s situation next season.’
Martial, 26, has informed United interim manager Ralf Rangnick about his desire to leave Old Trafford and could exit the club in the January window.
Pogba’s United future also remains uncertain and the Frenchman is free to speak with clubs outside of England from January and sign a pre-contract agreement.
The 28-year-old United midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid.
