Coveted French international Aurélien Tchouaméni has reportedly made a decision on his future amid interest from numerous sides. The Monaco man has opted to join Real Madrid in a deal which will cost ‘way more’ than €50 million according to Fabrizio Romano.
Real Madrid faced fierce competition for the 22-year-old’s signature, with Liverpool also heavily interested in a man who could have offered a path to the future for what is an ageing Reds’ midfield.
The news comes shortly after Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell issued a statement announcing clubs would have to put forward “very aggressive” offers if they wanted to pry Thouaméni away from the Ligue 1 outfit. It would appear Real have done just that, as they continue to build an exciting, young midfield.
Los Blancos began their midfield revamp last summer through signing Tchouaméni’s compatriot Eduardo Camavinga. Watching those two next to 23-year-old Fede Valverde will certainly get Madrid fans off their seats. All three will doubtless also benefit from the tutelage of veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

As for Liverpool, it’s an opportunity missed. Borussia Dortmund man Jude Bellingham remains an option for them in the middle of the park as they seek to add some youth to that area but missing out on Tchouaméni will definitely be viewed as a blow.
After losing out on Kylian Mbpabbé who has extended his contract with PSG, Real Madrid’s attention will now shift to bolstering their attack. England international Raheem Sterling is said to be on their radar, but the signing of Tchouaméni will likely placate the Madrid fans for now amid the Mbappé saga.
