Ian Wright thinks that Arsenal aren't far off 'seriously competing' once again, and has named a Paris Saint-Germain player they should sign.
Arsenal are currently on an upward curve, after years of being on the opposite, and have turned things around after losing their first three games of the season without scoring.
Mikel Arteta's team were very impressive in the recent loss to Manchester City, with Rodri's late winner denying them a well deserved point.
The Gunners are currently in fourth place and in a battle to qualify for next season's Champions League, something they've not done since the 2016/17 season.
Wright believes that they're pretty close to becoming a serious player in the league once again, and thinks they should be looking to sign PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
"I saw Wijnaldum's name [linked with Arsenal]. That would be amazing. A loan signing from PSG," he said on the Kelly and Wrighty show.
"Someone like that in the midfield. Of that experience. He is a Premier League winner. Just to help with the youngsters and a Sambi Lokonga just to keep it going.
"Then, they can add to the squad and, all of a sudden, Arsenal can start challenging and challenging seriously."
Wijnaldum only moved to the Ligue 1 leaders last summer, after his contract at Liverpool expired in the summer, after initially being linked with a move to Barcelona.
The Dutch midfielder has only started nine league games this season, and another three in the Champions League, and is reportedly unhappy with life in Paris.
He has been linked with a potential return back to the Premier League, with Everton and former club Newcastle United also reportedly interested.
Arsenal have Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey away at the African Cup of Nations, which kicked off in brilliant fashion on Sunday, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles has just moved to Roma on loan, meaning Wijnaldum would likely get good game time.
Speaking on Friday, before they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest, Arteta did admit he's looking at signings during this month's transfer window.
"We are very, very short at the moment," the former Manchester City assistant manager said.
"So obviously we are going to move, and we are going to look for options, because we are very short."
As well as a midfielder, the north Londoners have been linked with a move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, one of the most wanted forwards in Europe.
However, the Serbian is set to snub the club, having ignored their calls last year.
