Jurrien Timber's brother has confirmed Arsenal are trying to sign the Ajax defender after being asked about the potential transfer.
Arsenal have submitted a £30m bid for Timber, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool.
The 22-year-old still has two years left on his deal with Ajax, who are believed to want a fee in excess of the £30m offered by Arsenal, according to the BBC.

Timber made 47 appearances in all competitions for Ajax last season but may seek to leave the club this summer, with the Dutch side not competing in the Champions League next season after a disappointing third place finish in the Eredivisie.
The Netherlands international, who has 15 caps for his country, was spotted in London earlier this month with his agent.
The pair attended the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City on June 3.
Meanwhile, Timber's girlfriend was reportedly seen house-hunting in Liverpool earlier this year amid reports linking him with the Merseyside club.

Arsenal now appear to be in pole position to sign the defender and his twin brother Quinten, who is also a professional footballer, has confirmed there is interest from the Gunners.
Speaking to Dutch outlet NOS, Feyenoord midfielder Quinten confirmed Arsenal's interest but said he knew little else about the proposed transfer.
"I don't know if there was an offer," said Timber, who is currently away on international duty with the Netherlands at the U21 European Championship in Georgia and Romania.
When asked if his brother would play for Ajax again, Quinten Timber added: "I don't know. At least he's not in London right now."

Arsenal are also in advanced negotiations to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea and Declan Rice from West Ham.
Meanwhile, the north London club is also believed to be interested in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia as Mikel Arteta plans a major overhaul of his squad this summer.
