Arsenal have opened talks with midfielder Granit Xhaka over a new contract at the Emirates, according to reports.
The 30-year-old has experienced an almighty resurgence to form under Mikel Arteta in the last couple of seasons, redefining his role in midfield.
His days looked numbered in north London after he was booed off by supporters in a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace in October 2019, subsequently being stripped of the captaincy.

The report also claims that both parties are 'hoping negotiations can be concluded fairly quickly as there's a willingness from both sides to agree terms.'
It is also claimed that Arteta has given his 'seal of approval' for the player to be handed a new deal, after describing him as "special" earlier this season.

“He’s made some mistakes and he’s learnt from it, but he has always faced adversity and difficulty and he’s never run away from it.
