Former Manchester United player Angel Gomes suffered a 'violent blow' to the head against Reims in Lille's Ligue 1 opener, according to a report.
According to RMC Sport, Gomes clashed with Amadou Kone, who was shown a straight red card by the match referee.
Emergency services were immediately called to the pitch to treat Gomes.

Kone was shocked by the incident and was seen praying in the dressing room.
The league fixture was temporarily halted as the 23-year-old received urgent medical attention.
After 20 minutes, the midfielder was taken away by a stretcher to a warm reception inside the stadium.

Lille took to social media to thank the home fans for singing the stricken player's name.
On X, the French club wrote: "Thanks to the @StadeDeReims supporters who sang the name of Angel Gomes.
"The game has not yet resumed, but both teams are warming up again.
"Angel is still on the ground, surrounded by the medical team."

Gomes was replaced by Hakon Arnar Haraldsson as the match eventually resumed.
