Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson showed great awareness as he catches the ball mid celebration to prevent the ball spinning back into the net during the FA Cup final shootout.
Liverpool edged past Chelsea 6-5 via penalties in last Saturday’s FA Cup final after the two teams played out another 0-0 stalemate over 120 minutes, like they did in February’s Carabao Cup final.
February’s meeting ended in a 11-10 victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men after Chelsea substitute keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga skied the deciding penalty into the Wembley crowd.

This time however, it was less dramatic. Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta was the first to blink, hitting the post as he took his team’s second penalty. Sadio Mane had the chance to win the cup for Liverpool as he took the fifth penalty for the Reds, but saw his effort saved by his Senegal teammate, Edouard Mendy.
Mason Mount was Chelsea’s seventh taker, Alisson produced a great save to deny the England international, and Kostas Tsimikas converted his penalty to hand Liverpool the trophy.
However, the Mount penalty would have been scored if it wasn’t for some quick awareness and reaction from the Liverpool No.1.

As Alisson gets a hand to Mount’s penalty, the ball looped up into the air, Mount instantly turned his back and started to head back towards the halfway line in bitter disappointment, Alisson began his celebration but the ball bounced on the ground and started to spin towards goal.
The Brazilian quickly caught the ball and sunk to his knees as he made sure he wasn’t on the end of what could've been the most embarrassing moment in FA Cup final history.

The quick thinking of Alisson helped ensure that Liverpool’s quadruple dream lives on, two trophies already secured, Liverpool have a chance to add to that this weekend but they would need help from their former captain Steven Gerrard, as the Liverpool legend takes his Aston Villa side which includes former Reds Philippe Coutinho and Danny Ings to the Etihad stadium in hope of causing a monumental upset that would hand Liverpool the Premier League title.
After the league season is wrapped up, Liverpool will travel to Paris in search of their seventh European cup, as they face Real Madrid in a mouth-watering Champions League final.
