AC Milan's new third kit could be banned due to a rule recently introduced in Serie A.

have revealed Milan are set to sport a strip that is ‘Dark Green Moss’.
PUMA are the kit manufacturers for the San Siro outfit and the deal was recently extended and doubled to be worth €30 million-per-year, with naming rights for the academy and women's training centre included.

However, the German sportswear giant appear to have made a costly error as in 2021, green kits were banned in the Italian top flight.
The rule was announced to come into play from the 2022/23 season and excludes home kits, meaning Sassuolo are still able to sport their traditional colours.

The ban is on away and third strips but does not apply to goalkeeper shirts. As per Goal, it was widely reported that the reason behind the regulation stems from TV broadcasters expressing concerns with the kits blending in with the grass and virtual adverts.
No other teams in Serie A have fell foul of the criteria but Milan's military-looking strip is quite clearly a shade of green.
Clubs are able to use green in their kits as long as it isn't the primary colour but that is not the case with Milan, where it is dominant colour.

It remains to be see how Serie A will respond to Milan's third kit and if PUMA are forced to make an alternative strip.
We do know a change to Milan's kits next season will see the Italian flag in the middle after they ended 11 years without Scudetto on the final day of 2021/22 under Stefano Pioli.
