Max Verstappen is reportedly in talks to potentially team up with a current Formula 1 driver for the famous 24-hour Le Mans race.
During the 2024 season, Dutchman Verstappen won his fourth successive F1 world title after finishing above Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc in the standings.
Despite being just 27 years old, Verstappen's long-term future in F1 has already been called into question.
Ahead of the 2025 season, which will begin in March, it has been claimed that Verstappen and two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso are eyeing a spot in Le Mans in the future.

As reported by The Mirror, Verstappen and Alonso will need to find a third driver to form a team after Verstappen's father, Jos, pulled out.
He said: "It's in the back of our minds, we know that we want to do it. [Jos] is still very good at it, [but] he doesn't want to. He just doesn't want to do it anymore.
"It's fine, let's see what happens. A lot of things can happen. There are many great drivers that you can pick from. I have a lot of friends also who race, so it will be hard to pick one."
When asked if there are any special requirements to be him and Alonso's teammate, the Dutchman replied: "The only thing is, for Le Mans, there's no minimum weight for the driver. I'm quite a heavy competitor, so I would have to find light teammates to compensate. Fernando is quite light so that would be very good for us, but we would need to find another one."

If Verstappen does take part in the 24-hour Le Mans, he could be on his way to achieving the triple crown of motorsport.
The triple crown consists of winning the Monaco F1 Grand Prix, the Indy 500 and the Le Mans.
So far in the history of motorsport, only Graham Hill has managed to achieve the feat of winning all three events.

It is safe to say that a venture into Le Mans is not likely to happen until Verstappen's F1 career is over.
The reigning world champion is currently contracted to Red Bull Racing until 2028.
Previously speaking to SPORTbible, Verstappen expressed his desire to try different forms of racing.
He said: "I also want to do other kinds of racing outside of Formula 1 eventually and at one point of course I will scale it back a bit."
