Fernando Alonso has spoken about reports linking Max Verstappen with Aston Martin ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
After finishing sixth in last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix, Verstappen is currently third in the standings with 69 points, five behind Oscar Piastri and eight adrift of leader Lando Norris.
Despite what can be described as a respectable start to the 2025 campaign, the four-time world champion has been linked with a move away from Red Bull.
On Friday, it was claimed by Italian news outlet La Gazzetta that Verstappen has been offered a huge deal to sign for Aston Martin, to which the Silverstone-based team has since issued a response.

Speaking ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, current Aston Martin star Alonso was asked whether he sees Verstappen as a threat to his seat.
As reported by Planet F1, the Spaniard replied: "I don’t think so.
"I have a contract for next year, but I see the rumours."

Further expanding on the Verstappen links, Alonso continued: "Very good for the team, as you said before, the World Champion is sometimes linked with some other teams in a possible departure from Red Bull, and the teams that they are commenting are Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Ferrari.
"So this shows the project that we are in and the future that this team has. And as I said, even last year, when I extended the contract, I said that I will drive for as long as I feel fast, and I feel competitive, and the team needs be behind the wheel, but my contract is much longer than my racing career."
The 43-year-old was then pressed on whether he would welcome the Dutchman as his Aston Martin teammate, he replied: "Yes, but that’s unlikely to happen. Very unlikely."
Verstappen himself took aim at Sky Sports commentator David Croft when being asked about his future with Red Bull.

Crofty asked: "So he's [Marko] getting the wrong end of the stick? You're not thinking of leaving Red Bull?"
Verstappen hit back: "No, I think [you] just focus on commentating, I'll focus on driving and then you don't need to think about any other scenarios."
