Lewis Hamilton lap times compared to Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc as latest Ferrari test details emerge

Lewis Hamilton returned to action for Ferrari this week.

New details of Lewis Hamilton's latest Ferrari test have emerged as his lap times were compared with the likes of Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc.

Last week, Hamilton went behind the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car for the second time as the team held a private testing session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

However, the seven-time world champion suffered a crash after losing control of the car in the final sector of the track, subsequently hitting the barriers and causing 'rather serious' damage to the suspension and more minor damage to aerodynamic parts.

Hamilton did not suffer any injuries as Ferrari played down the accident, stating it is 'part and parcel of a driver getting up to speed with a new team and exploring the limits of his new machinery'.

This week, Hamilton again drove a Ferrari as part of the Pirelli 2026 tyre test.

As reported by Planet F1, Hamilton was driving a modified version of the SF-24, Ferrari's car from last season.

Unlike the previous two sessions, the latest test was dictated by the sport's official tyre supplier, Pirelli, to collect data ahead of the 2026 season.

It has been claimed that Hamilton completed a total number of 87 laps, with a best time of 1:15.93, which was 0.13s faster than teammate Leclerc, who managed 86 laps of the circuit.

However, Hamilton was behind McLaren's Norris, who set the fastest time of the day with a 1:15.21 after racking up 159 laps.

Hamilton and Leclerc are set to return to action on Wednesday, with Oscar Piastri scheduled to represent McLaren.

Looking ahead, the likes of Hamilton, Leclerc, Norris and Piastri are set to be the closest challengers to Max Verstappen, who is gunning for his fifth successive F1 world title.

The 2025 F1 season will begin with the Australian Grand Prix, which will be held around Albert Park in Melbourne on March 16.
