A darts star has claimed that one of his former rivals is said to have 'completely lost it' after losing a huge match over the weekend.
The European Darts Trophy tournament saw some of the very best darts players from across the continent compete for £175,000 in prize money as well as the coveted trophy.
Heading into the 2025 event in Germany, darts legend Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion, but he fell short to Ryan Joyce in the semi-finals, with Nathan Aspinall going on to win the final.
And now, one of Van Gerwen's close friends has claimed that the Dutchman passed on some information about another star player at the event, who reportedly was furious after losing his match in the competition.
In the last 16 of European Darts Trophy, Belgian player Mike De Decker faced Scotland's Cameron Menzies in a tense match that saw the Scotsman progress with a 6-5 victory.
Throughout the match Menzies was clearly emotional, as he dropped to the floor after missing a crucial shot, while his opponent appeared to be unbothered by the tense affair.
However, former darts star Vincent van der Voort, has now claimed that his close friend van Gerwen, told him otherwise.
“Mike completely lost it and couldn’t keep his emotions in check," Van der Voort revealed on the Darts Draait Door podcast.
"He was furious after the match, and I can understand why. You could make a new episode about him every week.
“He’s just a bit crazy—not in a bad way, that’s just who he is.”
However, Dutch player Dutch player Dirk van Duijvenbode admitted that De Decker should still be praised for managing to keep his emotions in check while on stage and reserving his outburst for behind closed doors.
“I wouldn’t have managed that,” confessed van Duijvenbode.

And the match against the Belgian wasn't the first time Menzies was spotted acting bizarrely, as Van Duijvenbode told a story about seeing him playing at the Belgian Darts Open earlier this month.
“At the Belgian Darts Open, he lost 6-5 in the first round to Canadian Matt Campbell.
"Even two hours later, he was still sulking and acting strangely—hugging Campbell over and over. I must have seen them do it six times! I just thought, ‘What on earth is going on here?’”
