Phil Taylor lands new job after retiring from darts and rejecting Sky Sports offer

The 16-time World Darts champion has a new role in the sport a year after officially retiring from playing.

Darts legend Phil Taylor has landed a new job after 'rejecting' a proposal from Sky Sports.

Taylor, 64, dominated the sport of darts for over three decades - winning 214 professional titles, including 85 majors and 16 World Championships before calling time on his trophy-laden career in 2024.

And he still follows the sport closely, recently giving his thoughts on Luke Littler’s success at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship.

“It’s entirely up to Luke how long he plays, how dedicated he remains and how many titles he wins,” said Taylor earlier this month.

“For now, just let the kid play.

“He’s a world champion at 17 years old, the youngest to do it by a mile, and he’s just brilliant.”

Taylor, who is widely regarded as the greatest of all time (GOAT) has landed himself a new role. He has linked up with MODUS Super Series, a tournament featuring 104 matches over 50 weeks per year according to the Mirror.

The rules of the tournament, according to MODUS’ website, are below.

“The twelve players are split into three groups, with six players going into Group A, and three going into Groups B & C.

“Play commences in Group A on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 9:30 each day. The player who finishes first after three sessions qualifies directly for finals night on Saturday evening.

“Group B plays on a Thursday and Friday evening from 22:00 and Group C plays on a Thursday and Friday during the day from 9:30. The top three players from Group B and the top two players from Group C qualify for finals night, the rest of the players are eliminated.

“Finals night is played on Saturday evening starting at 22:00 where the players compete in a small group stage followed by semi-finals and a final to determine the weekly winner.

“The competition then starts again the following week, with twelve new players competing for the title.

“After twelve weeks of competition, the twelve weekly winners compete in ‘Champions Week’ which is played every thirteenth game week to decide who will win the Series and earn a place on the honours board.”

The tournament features players who don't hold a PDC Tour card and is streamed on Pluto TV, with Taylor working as a pundit for the broadcaster covering the League of Legends Finals Night on Saturday.

“It’s ideal for me,” Taylor explained [via Mirror]. “I couldn’t work on the Sky ones, there’s too many tournaments for me. I wouldn’t be able to do that now. That isn’t for me, I can’t be in hotels all the time. I enjoy my life at home too much.”
