Luke Littler announces he will be ‘raising awareness’ for charity during his Premier League campaign

Luke Littler announces he will be ‘raising awareness’ for charity during his Premier League campaign

The Nuke has confirmed he will be supporting Motor Neurone Disease Association

Luke Littler has had a meteoric rise to fame over the past few months to come from nowhere and become one of the biggest names in the world of darts.

The teenage sensation announced himself to the world during his stunning run to the final of the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.

However, the now 17-year-old, from Warrington, was denied a fairytale ending by Luke Humphries.

Littler then secured his place in the 2024 Premier League season and made his debut on opening night in Cardiff and, despite beating Humphries 6-2, Littler was edged out by 2023 world champion Michael Smith 6-5.

In the PDC World Series, Littler has experienced both triumph and defeat in the final.

Littler beat Michael van Gerwen 8-5 in the Bahrain Darts Masters, but lost 8-5 to the Dutchman in the Dutch Darts Masters.

The PDC Premier League has recently begun in Cardiff, and on night one Littler has been in action against Humphries, who he lost to in the World Darts Championship Final.

This time around, Littler emerged victorious with a 6-2 win in the quarter-finals, but was knocked out at the semi-final stage with a 6-5 defeat to Smith, who later won the final with a 6-2 victory against Gerwyn Price.

Reflecting on his first Premier League showing, Littler wrote on X: "Proud to make my Premier League debut. Plenty more to come over the next few weeks."

And as well as now competing in the Premier League over the upcoming season, he has confirmed he will supporting a charity close to his heart.

The Warrington Wolves fan has vowed to raise awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

Taking to social media, Littler wrote: "Got the chance to support a charity for the Premier League season and being a big rugby league fan wanted to back @mndassoc.

"They do so much important work so hope I can do my bit to raise awareness of it."

A major link between the charity and rugby league is, of course, Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND at the end of 2019 and has been a truly inspirational figure in helping people join the fight against the disease and Littler is now doing his part to raise awareness.
