Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith decided to throw each other's darts during an entertaining Wetzlar Darts Gala final in Germany – and it made for fascinating viewing.

Earlier this month, around 3,000 fans poured into the Buderus Arena in Wetzlar to watch Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith, Gerwyn Price and Gabriel Clemens, amongst others, throw some arrows.

It was a historic evening in the German city, just days after the World Championship, as three-time world champion Van Gerwen grabbed the headlines with a nine-darter against Gabriel Clemens.

But for many fans watching at home, the most intriguing moment of the night involved Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith, who decided to swap darts in the final leg of the final.

You can watch that moment below:

Price, who went on to win the exhibition tournament, looked at home with Smith's signature 'Shot Michael Smith Achieve 24g' darts on the Buderus Arena stage, throwing a 180 on his third attempt.

Last year's world champion Michael Smith, however, struggled to adapt to the 24 gram Red Dragon Darts despite a promising start and Price hit a double 20 to seal victory.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the clip.

One said: "A 14 darter with a set of darts he's never used before is nuts," while another commented: "It’s like the darts don’t matter haha. When I’m next tempted on a set I need to tell myself this."

A third wrote: "I think I must be the only person to alter my throw to suit a set of darts," and a fourth added: 'Sickening levels of talent really."

Just weeks before the exhibition tournament in Germany, Gerwyn Price admitted he almost pulled out of the World Darts Championship.

After a second-round win over Connor Scutt, he said: "My game was steady. It wasn't my A-game - first-round jitters - but I am happy. I am thankful I got through.

"The crowd were brilliant. I was turning up to Ally Pall like it was last year and the crowd would be on my back but this year they were brilliant. I was a bit apprehensive; I didn't know what would happen.

"I was sat in my house at 6 o'clock [on Sunday] and probably wasn't going to play the tournament. I wasn't even on my way to London."
