Revered defensive midfielder Rodri could join a list of Manchester City players who have put pen to paper in the last 12 months.
Since May last year, Manchester City have been on a mission to secure the long-term futures of a whole host of their key players.
For instance, senior squad members such as Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, John Stones, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo have all committed their long-term futures to the club.
The same can be said for some of City’s most prodigious youngsters such as Cole Palmer, James McAtee, Joshua Wilson-Esbrand, Oscar Bobb and Luke Mbete,.

After dividing opinion with his displays during his first two seasons at the Etihad Stadium, the former Atletico Madrid lynchpin turned all his critics into his fans after an incredible personal campaign last term.
Aside from being the epitome of consistency at the base of midfield, Rodri was also front and centre of some of City’s outright season-defining moments.
From his heroic goal-line clearance in Manchester City’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool, his last-gasp winner against Arsenal on New Year’s Day and his clutch equaliser against Aston Villa on the final day of the season, the Spaniard revelled during the biggest moments.

Emerging as arguably the most in-form defensive midfielder in Europe over the past ten months as well as the rightful heir to Fernandinho’s throne, Manchester City supporters would be buzzing to see Rodri extend his contract and receive a deserved pay rise.
