Phil Foden matched a record managed by Cristiano Ronaldo and two other Premier League legends during Manchester City’s win against Aston Villa.
On Wednesday night, City went level on points with Liverpool after recording a convincing win over Unai Emery’s men at the Etihad Stadium.
City went ahead thanks to Rodri in the 11th minute before Jhon Duran equalised nine minutes later.
Foden made it 2-1 just shy of half-time before adding two further goals in the second half to complete his hat-trick and seal a 4-1 victory for his side.

On the back of his latest hat-trick, Foden has now equalled a feat managed by Ronaldo, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.
According to TNT Sports, who wrote on social media: “At just 23 years old, Phil Foden has now scored as many Premier League hat-tricks as Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.”
So far in the 23/24 season, Foden has managed 21 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for City.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, the 23-year-old said: “I’m loving my football; playing with a smile on my face.
“I’m just trying to help the team because I know I’m capable of scoring goals. Today I showed that. I set myself better than last season. Trying to get more goal contributions. I’m up this year. Doing well.”
Foden added: “I see myself as a technical player in the pockets and out wide I can do that job. But I prefer in the middle. This year I’m growing into the game. The manager spoke about showing rhythm and slowing the game down. I’ve added that to my game as well. Before I was going so quick; attacking every action. Now I’m getting the balance just right.

“I always try and arrive in the box. That’s where the goals are at and you can get at least five a season arriving in the box late. I still have a lot to improve on and I’m still working on that position.”
Liverpool have the chance to go three points clear of City again when they take on Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday night.
