However, Guardiola remained tight-lipped on the situation surrounding his contract ahead of arguably City's biggest test of the season - at a place where the form book is well out of the window.

Speaking about his future in a press conference on Friday afternoon, the 51-year-old said: "As you know, I'm not thinking about that (for) one second."
Guardiola is fully focused on the upcoming challenge City face against a familiar rival, who held the Blues to a 2-2 draw in an entertaining battle in Merseyside last season.
"Two or three weeks before the World Cup, this (game) is the most important thing," the Manchester City manager added.

Guardiola confirmed that John Stones is not in contention for Sunday but Erling Haaland will be fit to face Liverpool.
Haaland will be keen to make the difference for City after failing to make a mark in his side's Community Shield loss to Liverpool in July.
Kalvin Phillips is recovering well from a shoulder injury but there remain question marks over whether the England international can prove his fitness in time for the World Cup in Qatar.
