Manchester City have joined a growing list of top-flight clubs to enquire about Peterborough defender Ronnie Edwards.
City’s dominance in the Premier League is well-known, with the club being crowned Champions in four of the previous five seasons.
The Blues’ dominance doesn’t however stop in the top division, as Brian Barry-Murphy’s EDS team were recently crowned Premier League 2 Champions for a second successive season.
In their most recent move to bolster their academy, the Sky Blues have reached out to League One side Peterborough, inquiring about their centre back Ronnie Edwards.

According to Alan Swann, the phone call between the two sides was nothing more than a conversation, with the main takeaway being that Edwards would rather stay with his current team than make his way to the City Football Academy.
Barry Fry, Peterborough director of football, has gone on to state that the side are willing to let the 19-year-old go, on the condition that the teenager would return on loan.
"I suppose an ideal scenario would be a club paying proper money for him and then loaning him back to us for a season,” said the Posh’s footballing director.

Fry also went on to add that although Edwards may not make a move to the top division now, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he did in the future.
"There is no doubt he will get to the Premier League one day and earn life-changing money, but he’s a very sensible young man and knows time is on his side,” continued Fry.
Manchester City aren’t the only club to have reached out to the Posh, with Tottenham, Southampton, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace all reported to have expressed an interest in the English youngster.

Edwards has made 43 appearances for the Posh over the past two years, while also gaining vital experience with the England U19 squad, who took home the U19 Euro trophy this summer, beating Israel in the Final.
If the 19-year-old makes a move to Manchester, he would join national teammates Liam Delap and Callum Doyle, who were also a part of the Three Lions’ U19 squad.
Edwards has three years left on his current deal with Peterborough.

The teenager started against City in the FA Cup last season, with Guardiola’s side beating the League One club 2-0, courtesy of goals from Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish.
