CJ-Egan Riley has reunited with former City captain Vincent Kompany by signing for Burnley on a permanent basis, with Taylor Harwood-Bellis joining his fellow academy graduate on a season-long loan.

However, a wonderkid whose future remains uncertain heading into the brand new campaign is James McAtee.

The initial reports surrounding the Salford Silva - as he is famously known amongst the Manchester City fanbase - had indicated the plan was to integrate the youngster into the first-team by deploying him in wider positions.

McAtee was expected to following in the footsteps of Phil Foden, who has predominantly functioned as a winger instead of in midfield, since becoming a regular fixture in the the first-team.

A host of Premier League and Championship sides fancy a loan swoop the 19-year-old, with a move on a temporary basis set for the young playmaker.

As per the latest information provided by Alan Nixon, Sheffield United are aiming to swiftly wrap up a loan deal to sign James McAtee for the upcoming campaign.

Further details mention the England U-19 international was at Bramall Lane on Tuesday to undergo a medical - with the move to further down in South Yorkshire all but confirmed.

It has been stated the Blades had to work quickly to ensure that they secured McAtee’s services, with a host of sides across Europe, including Huddersfield Town, reigniting their interest in a loan move.

Encouragingly, it is expected that McAtee will be a starter for the Championship club this season.

McAtee is clearly considered as a part of the City's framework in the years to come after penning a long-term deal in February that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium till at least 2026.

Regular minutes in one of the most competitive and physically demanding divisions in Europe is what could ultimately accelerate James McAtee’s development to unseen levels.
