Canelo Alvarez believes it is ‘his time’ to make history once again when he takes on Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title on Saturday night, live and exclusive on DAZN.
Alvarez makes his eagerly anticipated return to ring this weekend against the Russian, having become the first ever boxer to become the undisputed super middleweight champion with his 11th-round technical knock-out win over Caleb Plant in November 2021.
The Mexican made history on that occasion and is keen to cement himself as the best pound-for-pound fighter around with a win at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night.

“I like this kind of challenge, because I just want to make history,” he said.
“This kind of challenge is going to put me at the top in the history of boxing. I feel alive when I have this kind of challenge.
“I respect the boxing skill of Dmitry Bivol, but it’s my time. I feel in my prime, and I enjoy this kind of moment.
“I know he’s going to bring everything, and I like that. The only thing I want is bring a good fight. He’s very confident, I’m very confident. It’s going to be a good fight.”

Confident of seeing off Bivol, Canelo hasn’t ruled out a potential mouth-watering clash against heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in the future.
“I like it, why not? I'll fight everyone. I don't f***ing care,” he added.

Bivol comes into the fight undefeated in 19 bouts, and though the test against Canelo is by far the biggest of his career, the Russian is keen to showcase he’s capable of mixing it with the best in the business.
“I’m really glad that I’ve got my opportunity,” he said. “I’ve asked my team for many years, I want to fight the best guys, and now I’ve got this fight.
“I’m focused on the fight now. I hope we’ll make a great fight for boxing fans. I believe in me. I’ve had a long journey to this moment, and now I must do my job.

“Every time I come to the ring, I believe in my victory. If you don’t believe in what you do, you’ll never win. I believe in my victory.
“Why not? I’ve been in boxing since I was five years old. When I was 16, I was a two-time amateur world champion. Now I have a belt, I have 19 fights, I’m the champion. Why not?”
