Heartbreaking reason why Tyson Fury's mum won't be watching his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

Heartbreaking reason why Tyson Fury's mum won't be watching his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

Fury's mother won't be present in Saudi Arabia.

Tyson Fury's mother will not be watching her son's rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

Fury and Usyk face off in a rematch of their May bout, which saw Usyk win via split decision and claim the heavyweight titles.

The pair's camps have been locked in strict negotiations over several rules for the fight, with reported disagreements over which judge should be appointed to replace Fernando Barbosa, who is not in Riyadh due to illness.

And there were even discussions held about whether Fury would have to cut off his newly-grown beard, although the commission declared that it could remain, as per Sky Sports.

'The Gypsy King' revealed earlier this week that he had not spoken to his wife Paris for the last three months, though she and his father John have both made the trip to Riyadh.

One family member who will not be there, though, is Fury's mother Amber - who is notably never present for any of her son's fights. And there is a very specific reason for that.

Fury says that she is a 'very private person' and does not want to be in the public eye.

He told the Irish Mirror in 2022: "I looked on Google the other day and there's not one picture of my mother on the Internet. That's crazy, isn't it?

"She has never been to one of my boxing fights, amateur or professional, and never been in the public eye at all. She's a private person. That's her priority, not mine.

"I don't think it means anything to my mum. She doesn't care if I'm world champion or not, as long as I'm healthy and happy. That is the only thing that means anything to her."

Fury recalled one story when he had to tell his mother that he was the heavyweight champion after being approached in the street by a group of fans.

His father, John, is of course quite the opposite, with the 59-year-old regularly causing controversy with his actions before Tyson's fights.

Before the first fight against Usyk in May, he headbutted a member of the Ukrainian's team at a pre-fight event - something for which he later apologised.

John will not be in his son's corner in Riyadh for the rematch, though is present in Saudi Arabia to watch Fury attempt to reclaim the heavyweight championship on Saturday night.
