Netflix has hidden feature to make sure boxing fans get the best quality picture for Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Netflix has hidden feature to make sure boxing fans get the best quality picture for Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Netflix has a hidden feature which you may never have heard about.

Netflix has implemented a hidden feature which will make a major difference for fans tuning in to watch Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson.

Paul vs Tyson is the main event on what is the streaming giant's first-ever live boxing card.

The bout is due to get underway in Arlington, Texas at around 4am UK time, with three other main card fights preceding it including the highly-anticipated lightweight showdown between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

Netflix has entered the sporting market in a big way in recent years, with Paul vs Tyson taking place before the company's deal with WWE kicks in from January.

And they are pulling out all the stops to give boxing fans the best viewing experience of one of the most talked-about fights in recent memory.

Fans can tune in using their existing Netflix subscription, meaning they don't have to pay an extra fee to watch the bout.

But for those who are subscribed to the platform's 'Premium' service, there is a hidden feature included as part of your package that will improve your TV's resolution.

Netflix confirmed to TV Answer Man that the fight will be broadcast in 4K - a step up from the 1080p/HD quality that is offered as standard.

To activate the 4K setting you will, of course, need to already own a compatible TV, but there are a number of other slightly complicated steps you need to follow.

They are as follows:

  • Sign in to Netflix on your computer, and go to https://www.netflix.com/title/80018499 on any web browser
  • Add the 'Multipurpose Chart 1920 x 1080: 60fps test pattern (S2: Episode 8) to your Netflix library, using the 'Add To My List' option (the pattern won't show unless you have the correct subscription)
  • Open the Netflix app on your compatible TV
  • Select the above test pattern in the 'My List' section

Once you've done that, Netflix will prompt you to make picture adjustments using the section titled 'Colour Control'.

All you need to do then, as per TechRadar, is follow the on-screen instructions to ensure there is 'clear definition between the darker centre and brighter surrounding squares in the colour patches'.

You can also adjust the sharpness of the picture to avoid letters or numbers from appearing to be blurred.

Paul vs Tyson are scheduled to commence their ring walks at 4am UK time, although whether that time is actually met will likely depend on how long the other main card fights last.

The fight is scheduled for eight two-minute rounds, with both fighters wearing 14oz gloves. There will be no headguards.
