Mike Tyson reveals the full extent of his drug addiction and how it has affected him in build-up to Jake Paul fight

The former heavyweight champion made the heartbreaking confession ahead of the bout.

Mike Tyson has confessed to being a drug addict ahead of his boxing match with YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul.

Former heavyweight boxing champions Tyson will return to the ring to face Paul on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The fight was initially due to take place on July 20, but was postponed due after the 58-year-old suffered a ulcer flare up aboard a plane that ruled him unable to train.

But ahead of the reorganised fight, Tyson has made a heartbreaking confession about his struggles with drug addiction.

Speaking on the Come And Talk 2 Me podcast, Tyson confessed that he has battled an addiction to Marijuana throughout his entire life.

“I smoked weed all my life. Listen, I was born an addict. I was born that way. I'm a junkie. So, that's just how I was born.

“I don't know what to do. I don't get high now, but that's who I am. I switch my addiction to something else, but I'm a junkie,” he continued.

Although he has stayed away from smoking weed in the build up to the fight with Paul, the former champions admitted that he had taken another drug shortly before appearing on the podcast.

"I was smoking not too long ago. I'm cool now, probably two weeks or so without smoking.

“I did a little mushrooms before I came here though.”

Tyson recently opened up further about how he is preparing for the fight while appearing on American talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

And when asked if had been smoking weed while training, he responded: "Not really, I have smoked but not anytime soon."

The American talk show host then followed up by asking if Tyson would be high during the fight with Paul.

The heavyweight boxer replied: "Oh I'm going to be so high off life yeah"

But the American talk show wasn't prepared to let him off, and explicitly asked if he will he high on marijuana on the night.

"Oh that's a possibility too," joked Tyson.
