Oleksandr Usyk team member headbutted by John Fury breaks silence and explains what happened

A member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team who was headbutted by John Fury has broken his silence.

On Monday, Tyson Fury’s father John appeared to headbutt a member of Usyk’s entourage in an incident which overshadowed the pre-match media day.

John appeared to lash out with his head towards a man wearing Usyk’s team tracksuit just days before Saturday’s undefeated world heavyweight title fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

John was later pictured with blood gushing form a head wound, after security stepped in to quell the confrontation.

When asked about the incident, John's victim, Stanislav Stepchuk told Seconds Out: “I was just supporting our team.

“We were only shouting, 'Usyk, Usyk,' I didn't touch him. He went crazy… Yeah [I wanted to punch him], but because of the age difference it would not be very fair.

“He should not look for an actual fight because he could have a heart attack and finish in the ambulance.”

After the altercation, John was heard shouting: “We can't be beat! We can't be beat!

“I live for this f***ing s***! I live for blood, guts and horror! Blood guts and horror! I live for this s***, my boy lives for this s***!”

Meanwhile, when asked about the clash, Tyson said: "I didn't see anything, I was in the room doing interviews, but I'm not here for all that, I'm here to get the job done and go home and rest."

Saudi Arabian authorities say no charges are being pressed and no further action will be taken.

Meanwhile, speaking ahead of the fight, Derek Chisora, who fought both Fury and Usyk, made his prediction.

He said: “I don’t know. I was with Usyk this afternoon because we love the same Russian sauna so we were together.

“It’s a short camp for both fighters. By the time they get into the rhythm and try and get everything right its going to be hard, there’s going to be injuries.

“There’s already signs, they already postponed it. Both men will train hard, so who knows man. It’s hard to call. Tyson has to gee himself up now. His last fight was not a good fight man but he won, he won that fight, simple.

“I said he was going to get knocked down and come back and win the fight. I think that burst some of his bubble. Sometimes you can have a bad day but in boxing, you can’t have a bad day and win the fight.”
