Tyson Fury sacks dad John from corner ahead of Oleksandr Usyk rematch

Tyson Fury has made a huge call ahead of his rematch with heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, as he has decided that dad John will not be in his corner for the fight.

On Saturday night, former foes Fury and Usyk will clash once again to settle once and for all who the greatest heavyweight boxer in the world is.

In their previous fight in May, it was the Ukrainian that was victorious, becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion after securing a split decision win.

But ahead of the rematch, Fury has made a huge change as it has been revealed that the British boxer has decided not to allow father John into his corner during the bout.

And, with Fury Sr yet to be spotted in Saudi Arabia, Tyson's trainer SugarHill Steward has revealed that he will not be joining Fury's entourage ahead of the fight.

"Tyson Fury is just ready right now, along with myself. He has always had a silly demeanour, and playing around but this is a different side of him. he is 100 per cent ready," he said after the open workouts on Wednesday.

When pushed on who will be in the corner, he added: "Just myself, Andy Lee and the cutman, pretty much that's it."

The American also provided an insight into how Tyson has been preparing himself ahead of the big fight.

He said: "It's just how we normally train, I was taught by Emmanuel Steward. It's always about hurting somebody, pain and knockouts. It was written on the walls of the Kronk gym.

"The harder you work the bigger the rewards. Everything that is boxing, that's what he's bringing on Saturday, that's what his mind is geared towards."

Fury himself remained tight-lipped during the workout, refusing to say any more than 17 words before his bizarre open 'workout'.

Meanwhile Usyk, who holds currently holds the WBA, WBO and WBC heavyweight belts after being made the vacate the IBF title last year, showed off a brief workout before speaking to media in the ring.
