Fans think Jake Paul’s girlfriend proved Mike Tyson fight was ‘rigged’ during interview in the arena

Fans think Jake Paul’s girlfriend proved Mike Tyson fight was ‘rigged’ during interview in the arena

Jutta Leerdam could not make her mind up...

Boxing fans have an interesting theory regarding Jake Paul’s unanimous decision victory over Mike Tyson.

Paul, 27, fought Tyson, 58, at the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday, November 15.

Around 70,000 fans packed into the arena, with some even paying $2m for a ticket at the ringside.

The fight was Tyson’s first professional contest since sustaining a defeat against Kevin McBride in 2005.

As for Paul, the victory improved his record to 11-1 with a host of legendary fighters such as Nate Diaz and Tyrone Woodley on his record.

The defeat meant Tyson’s record changed to 50-2-7. Several high-profile names in fight sports, including Dana White and Eddie Hearn, gave their take on the unusual event, with the UFC president voicing his concerns regarding ‘Iron Mike’s’ health, but he came through unscathed.

Paul seemingly slowed down and allowed Tyson to recover at certain points in the fight. During the post-fight press conference, he admitted that he wanted to entertain the crowds but, at the same time, had no real intention of causing damage to the 58-year-old - despite being on the receiving end of a slap to the face from Tyson during Thursday’s weigh-in.

“Yeah, definitely, definitely a bit,” he explained.

“I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt him.”

What truly attracted most fans was the sheer oddness of the fight, with most struggling to predict what a 58-year-old former heavyweight champion could do against a fairly novice boxer.

Fans also expressed how they thought the bout was ‘rigged’ after Paul’s girlfriend, Jutta Leerdam, gave a questionable prediction regarding the result.

However, this is just a fan theory, and there is nothing to suggest this is the case.

“Jake [Paul] will win, of course,” she told Betr.

“Definitely by decision.”

However, the 25-year-old then instantly backtracked, explaining how she thought the fight would end through a “knockout” or “knockdown” in “round five” of the contest.

Fans were quick to give their thoughts on social media.

One said: “Scripted to say round 5, and Jake said the same thing. So proof its rigged if it happens.”

Another added: “When she realises she just gave the outcome away….’ er er knock down actually, yeah yeah yeah round 5’”

With a third saying: “Knew the script, decision was kinda obv[ious]... Clowns.”
