Usain Bolt was in no doubt when asked whether Cristiano Ronaldo would beat him in a race

Usain Bolt was in no doubt when asked whether Cristiano Ronaldo would beat him in a race

Usain Bolt is the world record holder for the 100m and 200m.

Usain Bolt had a brilliant response when asked whether football great Cristiano Ronaldo would beat him in a sprint race.

Jamaican athletics legend Bolt will forever be labelled as the best sprinter of his generation.

To date, Bolt holds the world record time for both the 100m (9.58s) and 200m (19.19s), set in 2009.

Many great athletes have tried to go close to Bolt's time but none have managed to beat it so far.

Back in 2020, Bolt was asked whether five-time Ballon d'Or winner and former Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo would beat him in a race.

The Portuguese replied: "For me, he works out every day. He's a super athlete, you know what I mean? He's always on top of his game. He works hard, he's focused.

"So right now, I definitely think he's faster than me."

After winning eight gold medals, the Jamaican called time on his glittering career back in 2017 at the age of 31.

Bolt competed from 2008 to 2016 and is still renowned as one of the best athletes of all time due to his phenomenal achievements on the track.

A 3D simulation once showed just how quick he would be when put up against Ronaldo, with the results not so surprising.

The now 39-year-old eased home ahead of the former Manchester United star, but it was an animal who proved the quickest of the group.

The video shows just how fast an ostrich would be alongside Bolt and Ronaldo, with the former coming first in a baffling three-horse race.

Bolt and Ronaldo both have a long-standing association with Manchester United, with the latter last playing for the club in November 2022.

"For me it is sad to see him go," Bolt told Sky Sports upon the 39-year-old's exit from Old Trafford.

"He played such an important role for us last season. I think he kept us in the Premier League because in a lot of the games he was the one that scored, kept us in it and got us three points."

He added: "It is sad to see him go, but I understand why after listening to his interview that there is a lot going on that a lot of us don't know about."

Since leaving United, Ronaldo made a big-money move to the Middle East by signing for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

He has scored 87 goals in 95 matches across all competitions, lifting the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
