Arsenal are said to be ‘quietly confident’ of securing the transfer of Gabriel Jesus. This is despite reports that the striker has been offered to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal are in the market to reinforce their striking contingent after the exit of captain Alex Lacazette. This leaves the Gunners with only one striker who has scored a Premier League goal, Eddie Nketiah. Particularly with the increased number of games due to Europa League qualification, Arsenal will want to bring in at least one forward.
Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in a number of players. These include Roma’s Tammy Abraham, Napoli’s Victor Oshimen, Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca and Hellas Verona’s Giovanni Simeone. However, the Gunners top target appears to be Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.

According to The Times, Arsenal are ‘“quietly confident” they can lure Jesus to the Emirates this summer.
Mikel Arteta worked with the Brazilian during his time in Manchester, and appears to be intent on bringing him to the Emirates. Although he isn’t a huge physical presence, Jesus is a fantastic pressing forward. You can imagine him chasing every lost cause and haring down on terrified centre backs in the famous red and white.
Jesus also has a decent record in front of goal. Despite playing mostly on the right wing this season, Jesus recorded eight goals and eight assists. Arsenal will hope he improves on that record if he makes the switch to the Gunners.
However, according to the same article, Arsenal may face competition for their man. Tottenham are reported to have been offered the Brazilian as a back-up striker for Harry Kane. Spurs are able to offer Jesus Champions League compared to Arsenal’s Europa which strengthens their case.

With the transfer window now officially open, Arsenal will hope they can make a quick and decisive move for Jesus, especially with their bitter rivals Tottenham showing interest.
