Arsenal are set to use the Eredivisie to nurture their young Gunners, report the Athletic.
The two young guns in question are Tunisian international Omar Rekik and Danish youngster Mika Biereth. The two were regular fixtures of Kevin Betsy’s u23 side last season, with the young outfit finishing third in Premier League 2.
Rekik is poised to join Sparta Rotterdam on loan, the move a particularly crucial one for the 20-year-old as he eyes up a ticket on the Tunisian plane to Qatar this winter.

Biereth’s aspirations won’t be quite as high at this stage in his career, but the move to Holland is nonetheless an important one, with RKC Waalwijk bringing him to Mandemakers Stadion for the coming season. The Dane was in fine form for the u23’s last season, scoring 11 goals in 21 appearances.
The u23 side saw themselves taking on increasing responsibility as the feature players of the team found themselves either called him to the first team (i.e. Patino, Swanson, Okonkwo), or being loaned out to lower league sides (i.e. Folarin Balogun and Brooke Norton-Cuffy).
Kevin Betsy’s fine management of the u23 side saw him secure a role as manager of league two side Crawley Town. Head of Youth Development Per Mertesacker seems to be embracing the change, signalled by the loans to the Eredivisie, with more loans expected in the coming weeks.
