Arsenal’s search for a new central midfielder looks to be continuing with links to Serie A star intensifying.
A centre midfielder has been on Arsenal’s wishlist since the culmination of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
Depth in this position cost the Gunners last season and is very much needed.

However, the early window hype surrounding the move of Youri Tielemans to the red side of North London has appeared to have died down in recent weeks.
As a result, Mikel Arteta looks to be going down a different avenue and recent reports suggest the boss is looking to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The Lazio midfielder has been admired by potential Premier League suitors for a number of years.

Landing him would be seen as a major coup for this Arsenal side.
According to reports out of Italy, it would also take a major transfer fee to land the 27-year-old.
Arsenal ‘could go up to €65m’, if required, to sign Milinkovic-Savic which would make it the side’s second-most expensive transfer of all time.
Throughout last season, Arsenal struggled in the central midfield department when it came to depth.

Milinkovic-Savic would represent a different option to the club’s other midfielders.
The Serbian is able to operate in a more advanced manner than Arsenal’s current options.
His ability to chip in with important goals is well revered across the continent.
With Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny all built in similar moulds, Arsenal have been crying out for someone who can arrive late into the opposition’s box.
Milinkovic-Savic would fit seamlessly into the role of being Arsenal’s left-sided centre midfielder and would be able to utilise all of his strengths from this position.

Whether Arsenal go ahead with the signing is yet to be seen but with Tielemans talks on the backburner, this will be a transfer to keep an eye on.
Arsenal have already made four signings this summer.
