Arsenal linked with AC Milan star

Arsenal linked with AC Milan star

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Arsenal have held a meeting with AC Milan, over the attempt to sign Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to calciomercato in Italy.

Arsenal want to bring Tonali to the Emirates before the transfer window shuts, however Milan sees him as ‘not transferable’.

Despite this, calciomercato claim a bid in the region of £50 million could be enough to tempt them into letting him leave.

The 22-year-old joined Milan on a permanent deal in 2021 and has been a key player in the side ever since.

Last season, he had a key role when the side won their first Serie A title in over a decade, making 36 appearances and scoring 5 times, playing mostly as a defensive midfielder throughout.

Tonali has also made 11 appearances for the Italian national team under Roberto Mancici, making his debut at just 19-years-old.

Milan are hopeful of keeping Tonali, who they see as a player who can lead the club in the future.

Especially after losing out on key midfielder Frank Kessie to Barcelona in the summer.

The Italian is currently just one year into a 5-year contract, but Mikel Arteta is very keen on him, and will do all he can to bring him to North London.

Edu and Arteta have been very busy this window, constantly being linked to young talented prospects, even after bringing over multiple players such as Olekasndr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.

They are one of the highest spenders in the Premier League this summer.

In the midfield department, it is no secret Arsenal are keen to add talented depth in the squad.

Links to Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans have been constant.

Arsenal have limited options in the middle of the pitch, usually starting Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka with no clear alternatives. Behind them it is just Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny.

The depth of the squad was Arsenal’s downfall last season, after missing out narrowly on a top four spot to North London rivals Spurs.

It is clear Arsenal don’t want to have that problem again.

It will be tough for Arsenal to bring in Tonali, but if the report is to be believed, they will try to push over the next coming days.

Arsenal also continue to be linked with a wide forward, but nothing is imminent on this as of now.
