Edu and Mikel Arteta have struck a great working relationship since his appointment in 2019.
They both have a clear indication of where they want the club to go and in an interview with Sky Sports, Edu has outlined their approach to the transfer window.
Arsenal have been very active in the transfer window having already brought in Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, Marquinhos and Oleksandr Zinchenko respectively.

Speaking candidly in an interview with Sky Sports, Edu makes it abundantly clear that although he is a factor in signing a player, the brand of the club is the main attraction.
Edu says:
“No, it’s not me, it’s Arsenal. I’m just part of the process of when you go in to sign a player.

"I’m there in front of the player, in front of the family to explain who you are”.
Edu and Arteta are very clear about the direction of the club.
They present a unified front not only about the club but the kind of players they want to be involved in the project.
Speaking on his relationship with Arteta, he says:

“I’m never ever going to sign a player which Mikel is not comfortable with, never.
"That’s not my style and for sure it’s not the Arsenal style”.
The Brazilian continues with:
“If we decide to work together then the decision needs to be together.

"It’s not Mikel’s signings, it’s not Edu’s signings, it’s the signings so that for me is the most important thing for people to understand”.
Both Edu and Arteta have both spoken in the past about simply not just adding numbers.
The aim is to add the requisite quality to the squad that allows them to compete on multiple fronts and these latest quotes support that.

Having missed out on the Champions League last year, Arsenal have been aggressive in their recruitment and have added quality depth that will hopefully allow them to reach the goals that they have set themselves.
