Arsenal legend Paul Merson has revealed the Gunners are looking to add “a couple” more signings to their squad after a chat with the club’s technical director, Edu Gaspar.
The North Londoners have been active in the market following the announcement of their fourth capture of the season, Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
Jesus joins the likes of FC Porto’s Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos from São Paulo and USA international Matt Turner as the key bits of business concluded by Edu and co.

At the cost of £45 million, the Brazilian striker takes Arsenal’s spending to the £90-million mark for the summer.,
With rumours linking the club to other stars before the close of the market, Merson suggests that Arsenal are on course to having a good season with the business being made.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the ex-Arsenal midfielder said: “They are looking good. I saw Edu on Sunday and we had a little chat.

“I think they’ve bought well, they’re looking to bring a couple more players in - they could have a good season, Arsenal.
“Top four will be the aim. They’ve bought well and got young players in, with another season under their belt.
“I don’t think there’s a lot of excuses for Arsenal at the moment, they’ve got a good little team.”
The comments come at a time where the Gunners are locked in a battle with Manchester United for Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez.

Arsenal, much like their rivals United, have had offers for the Argentine rejected, with the defender pressing for a move out of Amsterdam.
According to reports in the Netherlands, however, the versatile defender may opt for a switch to Manchester, as the two Premier League giants go toe-to-toe for the €50-million-rated star.
The Gunners also reportedly remain keen on Youri Tielemans, with rumours following Mikel Arteta’s men since the fall of the 2021/22 season.

There are also suggestions that the interest in Tielemans has gone cold, however, as new names, such as Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovis-Savic, now added to the rumour list.
Merson also spared some time to comment on Arsenal’s new number nine, Jesus, whom he sees as “a major coup”.
“I thought it was a great signing, he’s a good player,” the Sky Sports pundit said of the Brazilian striker.
“He misses chances, but I like players who get into positions - he doesn’t hide.

“They needed someone like Gabriel Jesus. You need more than one centre forward and he ticks the box. He’s a major, major coup for Arsenal.”
Arsenal will be hoping to continue their business this week as they push on in the market.
