Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed he is keen to ensure that N’Golo Kante and Jorginho do not see their deals run down next summer.
Both players are now entering the final seasons on their current contracts, with the duo being key figures in the club’s success in recent campaigns.
The Blues lost two of their central defenders this summer on free transfers, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen both leaving upon the expiration of their contracts.

Such departures have required Chelsea to dip into the transfer market this summer, with Kalidou Koulibaly recently coming in to provide another option at centre-back.
As time goes on, a lack of talks on new deals for Kante and Jorginho could see them leave next summer, and they wouldn’t be short of suitors thanks to their impressive performances for the west London outfit.
As revealed by Tuchel on Saturday via the Telegraph, the German boss is keen to ensure his stars remain at the club in the hopes of not letting them leave on free transfers come the summer of 2023.

When asked if it was something he would want to see, he said: “It is, but I want a lot of things.
“Not all things become reality, but everybody is aware of the situation with not only N’Golo but also Jorginho.
“We knew about the situation with Andreas and Toni, and we don’t want this. So we are on it to solve it in the best interests of the club.”
Kante joined the club from Leicester City back in 2016, with Jorginho making the switch from Napoli two years later.

Both have won many titles during their time at the Blues, and the duo have also been recognised for their efforts on the European stage.
Chelsea are currently on their pre-season tour in the United States, although Kante has remained in England due to his vaccination status.
Tuchel’s side have now competed in the first match of their schedule ahead of the new campaign, beating Club America 2-1 on Sunday in Las Vegas.

Timo Werner opened the scoring ten minutes after the break, although Chelsea’s Mexican opponents were able to equalise soon after courtesy of a Reece James own goal.
With seven minutes left to play, Mason Mount was on hand to hand his side the victory thanks to his superb effort from range.
Their new signings Raheem Sterling and Koulibaly watched from the sidelines, with Tuchel and co. now preparing for their next fixture against Charlotte FC on Thursday.
