Raheem Sterling To Chelsea: Transfer Fee And Contract Length Revealed As Blues Near Man City Agreement

Raheem Sterling To Chelsea: Transfer Fee And Contract Length Revealed As Blues Near Man City Agreement

Sterling is set to sign a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea set to pay in excess of £50 million.

Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City this summer and all the details of the transfer have now been revealed.

The 27-year-old is set to make the switch to Stamford Bridge after Thomas Tuchel identified the England international as a top transfer target to bolster their attack for next season.

Todd Boehly has got to work to ensure Chelsea get their man in the early days of pre-season and a deal is getting closer to being agreed, finalised and completed.

As reported by Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, talks have accelerated between the two clubs, with 'growing confidence' of a deal now being struck as an agreement edges ever closer.

Sterling is open to moving to Chelsea and has already held talks with Tuchel over his role in west London should he join the Blues.

After a formal approach was made, they are hoping to wrap up a deal by the end of week with the majority of the Chelsea squad set to return to Cobham next week for the start of pre-season.

Now the figures involved in the deal have also been revealed.

Sterling, 27, is set to sign a four-year contract with Chelsea expected to be paying an initial £45 million to Man City.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Sterling's current teammate, Nathan Ake, who is also a former Blue having left in 2017 for AFC Bournemouth prior to making the move to the Etihad.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is also of interest but it remains to be seen whether Man City would be willing to let three of their first-team squad make the move down south to strengthen their Premier League title rivals as Chelsea look to make a challenge next season.

Chelsea are yet to sign anyone this summer but are holding talks for several players, including Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt and Sevilla's Jules Kounde.

They had agreed a fee with Leeds United for Raphinha, but Barcelona have swooped in late on and appear to have won the race for the Brazilian, who is believed to be keen on joining the Spanish side.

However, Chelsea still remain hopeful of completing the transfer for the 25-year-old.

Todd Boehly and co are looking to get business done as soon as possible and the key areas have been identified - defence and attack - as they eye up to six signings this summer.

"The key is to basically work with Tuchel to come up with the best players that are available," a senior source told The Telegraph last month.

"We really want to make sure we have a good defence. We've got depth in midfield. We're not desperate for an out-and-out striker.”

It appears Sterling could be the first senior signing of the summer - a case of when, not if.
