Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital offered Liverpool's former sporting director Michael Edwards a role as 'CEO of Football' at Chelsea, according to reports.
Since the new ownership team arrived at Stamford Bridge, they have been on the hunt to bring in new staff.
Following Roman Abramovich's departure and Boehly's introduction both Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia stepped down from their roles at Chelsea.

Granovskaia remained available to the Blues until the end of the summer transfer window, but it was Boehly himself who took on the role of sporting director on an interim basis.

They brought in big name signings, such as Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana and the American was at the front of it.
Since this period the west London side have been on the search for a full-time replacement.
They were heavily linked with Red Bull Salzburg's Christoph Freund, but he made the decision to stay with the Austrian side.
It was also reported that the Blues were eyeing up a shock move for Norwich City's sporting director Stuart Webber earlier this month.

While Chelsea are yet to acquire a sporting director, they have confirmed they've landed a technical director to get the recruitment rebuild swinging.
Laurence Stewart, who is currently AS Monaco's technical director, will complete a move to the west London outfit.

As well as this, it has also been reported that Chelsea had targeted Michael Edwards for a 'CEO of Football' role at the club.
Currently though the former Liverpool chief is on a sabbatical from the football world but he has listened to the Blues' proposal.
The timing for Edwards is not right as he instead plans to continue to spend time with his family.
His exit from Liverpool has no contractual clauses, so he could start a new job whenever he wants to.

It is expected however that he will be away from the game until the summer, so Chelsea will have to wait to go after the man who helped bring the Merseyside club their first Premier League title.
