Marcos Alonso is considering handing in a transfer request at Chelsea to force a move to Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain.
The 31-year-old is admired by Xavi Hernandez’s side and wanted this summer in a cut-price deal due to his contract at Stamford Bridge expiring next summer.
Alonso is yet to renew and it is becoming increasingly likely that he will depart with reports suggesting head coach Thomas Tuchel has given his blessing for the wing-back to leave Chelsea.

Ben Chilwell and the returning Emerson Palmieri are Tuchel’s other options on the left-hand side.
While Ian Maatsen, who rejected a move to Feyenoord, is also fighting for a role following his loan spell at Coventry City last season.
Barcelona have already signed Andreas Christensen and want to add Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta to their side.

But if they want to land both, or either, they will need to fork out a transfer fee to convince Chelsea to sell.
It remains unclear what Chelsea’s specific asking price is, but according to claims from Spain by Mundo Deportivo, Alonso is very keen to return to his homeland and could push for a move by submitting a transfer request to further his intention and desire of exiting Stamford Bridge.
Alonso’s future will hinge on Barcelona’s finances. They are currently waiting on another economic lever to put them into a position of financially affording to sign players.
It’s stated that every time Alonso’s agent has met with Chelsea about a move, he has been met with refusal by the west London outfit.

Last month while on international duty with Spain, Alonso confirmed his desire to move back to Spain but insisted he was still happy at Chelsea.
Speaking to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, he said: “On paper, I have a contract for one more year and that is where we’re at today.
“I’ve already said that I would like to play in Spain again, but it doesn’t depend entirely on me.

“I can’t complain about anything at Chelsea, but the desire to play in Spain is there.
"It doesn’t depend entirely on me and I’m happy at Chelsea, honestly.”
Co-owner Todd Boehly has and will continue meeting all of the players’ agents or representatives over the coming days and weeks, as per reports, - whether or not he has met with Alonso’s camp remains unclear.
Should Barcelona meet Chelsea’s asking price for Alonso, he is very likely to go. The ball is in the Spanish club’s court.
