Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been nominated for the 2022 Yashin Trophy, it has been revealed.
The goalkeeper lifted the Club World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations this year, cementing his name as one of the top shot-stoppers in world football.
He also helped guide Chelsea to a third placed finish in the Premier League, with several key performances throughout the season.

After Chelsea lifted the Champions League in 2021, Mendy lost out on the Yashin Trophy, with Gianluigi Donnaruma being voted as the winner after winning Euro 2020 with Italy.
The Senegal international, who lifted a trophy on the national stage himself in 2022, will be hoping that he has done enough to be crowned as the winner this year.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website last year on finishing as the runner-up for the trophy, Mendy said: "It is an incredible achievement for me and I am really proud to be in Chelsea and to be part of the club.

"We did an excellent job last year and we continue this year.
"Hopefully everything will continue well. See you next year!
"For football, 2021 is the best year of my life because it was an amazing season, we won the biggest title in Europe in my first year in a big club.
"It's my best year at the moment but I hope the next years will be better or the same."
Chelsea were unable to repeat their successes of 2021, falling out of the Champions League at the hands of eventual winners Real Madrid in the quarter-final stage.

Despite being unable to repeat the feat, Chelsea have confirmed that Mendy has been nominated for the Yashin Trophy once again this year.
“The award is named after Soviet international Lev Yashin, who is still the only goalkeeper to ever win the Ballon d'Or, back in 1963,” Chelsea explained.
Mendy is up against nine other goalkeepers, all of whom are top professionals in world football and will be hoping to lift the trophy.

Four of those are in the Premier League, with Alisson, Ederson and Hugo Lloris also in contention.
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who was Man of the Match in the UEFA Champions League final, is also nominated.
Mike Maignan of AC Milan and Yassine Bounou of Sevilla are also up for the award, with Europa League winner Kevin Trapp of Eintracht Frankfurt completing the nominees.
