Chelsea are set to get revenge on Barcelona as they close in on Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka with Thomas Tuchel’s role in the transfer revealed.
The Blues are close to securing their fourth signing of the summer window after they quickly struck up a deal with Aston Villa for youngster Chukwuemeka.
A fee of £20 million has been agreed with Steven Gerrard’s side as the 18-year-old will likely complete a move to Stamford Bridge.

With the agreement confirmed, the midfielder has been given permission to travel London to discuss both personal terms and undergo a medical before officially signing.
Chelsea have already completed moves for both Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly and are looking to make more additions.
The west London side’s activity in the transfer window has ramped up in recent days, on Tuesday they announced the signing of Gabriel Slonina for £12 million from Chicago Fire.

They are also looking to acquire Brighton’s Marc Cucurella and have reportedly submitted a bid of over £50 million for the Spaniard.
Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana is another target for the Blues, and although the Foxes do not want to lose the 21-year-old, the player could be considering a move to a Champions League side.
These potential targets come as options that were not prioritised earlier in the window, Chelsea have lost out on a lot of their favoured options this summer.

Barcelona have been at the centre of swooping in to take players they had planned to recruit.
This began with former Leeds United ace, Raphinha, Chelsea had a fee agreed with the Premier League outfit, but the player opted to move to the Catalan club instead.
A similar situation occurred with France international Jules Kounde.
Monitored as a Blues target since last summer, Tuchel’s side thought they had finally ‘won the race’ for the Frenchman, but once again the Spanish outfit were the preferred destination.

It seems as though Chelsea have finally got their long-awaited revenge on Xavi Hernandez’s side with the agreement they have made for Chukwuemeka.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Barcelona were in the lead for the signing of the Villa midfielder before Chelsea made an offer.
He continued: “Thomas Tuchel was ‘the man who changed the story’. AC Milan promised the player an important role, also, but he accepted Chelsea because of Tuchel.”

The signing sees further strength added to the youth at Stamford Bridge, his likely arrival follows on from Chelsea stealing 18-year-old Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal.
As reported by The Guardian, the Blues are also targeting 16-year-old Palmeiras forward Endrick and have made two bids for Inter Milan’s Cesare Casadei.
While experience has been gained from the two big summer signings to this stage, there is a evident focus of bringing in high quality young players.
