WWE star John Cena recalls 'awkward' sex scene with Amy Schumer that she was 'very into'

Cena starred in the 2015 film 'Trainwreck' alongside Amy Schumer.

WWE star John Cena has recalled an 'awkward' sex scene he was involved in with comedian Amy Schumer that she joked she was 'very into'.

The 46-year-old has conquered Hollywood since winding down his WWE career, though he will return to wrestling for an extended run throughout 2025 before officially retiring.

After beginning his acting career in connection with WWE Studios, he has become a much more prominent figure in recent years and has had starring roles in Ricky Stanicky and The Suicide Squad.

He even had an eponymous TV show created following the success of his Marvel character Peacemaker, and also had a cameo in Barbie last year as a 'Kenmaid'.

Back in 2015, Cena featured in the film Trainwreck as gym addict Steven, the partner of Schumer's main character at the beginning of the film.

In one of the film's scenes, Steven is asked to 'mix it up a little bit' and to 'talk dirty', to which he promises to 'fill you with protein' and 'put my green drink in you'.

It's fair to say this was a relatively bizarre watch, especially as Steven then starts talking in Mandarin.

And Cena revealed just how awkward the scene actually was behind the camera.

Speaking on the Club Shay Shay Podcast, he explained: "Amy is an angel, she made the environment so comfortable.

"When I got to the part, eventually they like, 'Yeah, it's a sex scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt sex. And all those lines you had? We're probably not going to use them, we're just going to do this stunt sex scene'.

"This is the thing - right now, you guys at home think it's just us. No, there's a whole f**king world back here.

"There are so many people you need to make a movie. There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing.

"So it's real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you're making fun of yourself."

Responding to Cena's comments on her Instagram story, Schumer joked: "John, how dare you?

"That sex scene meant a lot to me, and I was, like, very into it. And I'm in love with you."
