WWE have confirmed Triple H will be in charge of the company's creative direction following the retirement of Vince McMahon.

McMahon shocked the world on Friday after announcing he was retiring from his longtime position as chairman and CEO of the company.

Sources later confirmed the 76-year-old would play no part in the creative process going forward.

On Monday, WWE confirmed Triple H - real name Paul Levesque and son-in-law of McMahon - would be leading creative going forward.

Stephanie McMahon - who is married to Levesque and is McMahon's daughter - is chairwoman and co-CEO alongside Nick Khan.

Per Metro a press release reads: "WWE executive Paul Levesque will assume all responsibilities related to WWE’s creative, in addition to his regular duties."

Bruce Pritchard will remain head writer for the foreseeable future and report to Levesque.

McMahon and Khan added: "We are grateful for the opportunity to lead WWE together with our unmatched management team.

‘We recognize this is a tremendous opportunity and responsibility, and we look forward to serving the WWE Universe."

Triple H recently returned as executive vice president of talent relations after suffering a cardiac event in September 2021.

The 14-time world champion underwent a procedure to have a defibrillator fitted in his chest and announced his retirement from in-ring competition at WrestleMania in April.

During his time as an executive, Triple H helped create development brand NXT and has received praise within the industry for his knowledge.

It promises to be a new era for the WWE given Vince's involvement in the last 40 years.

He helped turn the promotion into the industry leader and saw off competition from World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling in the 90s.

McMahon released a statement confirming he will support the company as much as he can in his role as majority shareholder.

"As I approach 77 years old, I feel it's time for me to retire as chairman and CEO of WWE. Throughout the years, it's been a privilege to help WWE bring you joy, inspire you, thrill you, surprise you, and always entertain you," he said.

"I am extremely confident in the continued success of WWE, and I leave our company in the capable hands of an extraordinary group of superstars, employees, and executives.

"As the majority shareholder, I will continue to support WWE in any way I can."

McMahon stepped down from his role as chairman and CEO of WWE in June amid an ongoing investigation into allegations he paid money to an employee he allegedly had an affair with, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
