UFC legend Daniel Cormier is finally entering the world of WWE.
The retired MMA fighter will be stepping through the ropes, although he won’t be the one in action.
Cormier is set to serve as the special guest referee in a ‘Fight Pit’ match between ex-UFC fighter Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins at the upcoming Extreme Rules event.
Combat sports reporter Ariel Helwani confirmed the news, tweeting: “Daniel Cormier will serve as guest referee for next Saturday’s Fight Pit Match between Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins at WWE’s Extreme Rules in Philly. Oct. 8.

“No, seriously. It’s really happening. Oct. 8.
“Incredible.”
The ‘Fight Pit’ match is WWE’s take on the UFC’s octagon, with the only means of winning being submission or keeping your opponent knocked out for a 10-count.
So it is apropos that one of the best in fighting history will be the one to officiate the matchup.

DC commented on the new gig over on social media, saying: “I will be fair. I’ll be honest. I’ll be impartial. And I will not take anyone’s s**t. I will be there for a reason. The law has been called in, and I will enforce it with every part of myself to the fullest extent.”
Although when it comes to the world of WWE nothing ever seems to be as straightforward.
The former two-division UFC champion has long been a fan of professional wrestling and was even in talks to join the WWE as a commentator before choosing to stay full-time with the UFC.

He was in attendance when one of the men who he will be officiating, Seth Rollins won the WWE championship for the first time.
The MMA fighter was videoed going wild and cheering for Rollins at WrestleMania 31 - so he may find it tough to be impartial.
Rollins has been engaged in a rivalry with Riddle for the better part of the year now.

The pair have been at serious odds with each other, with things turning personal in August when Rollins claimed Riddle no longer had a family after his wife divorced him.
The moment mirrored that of the infamous moment between Cormier and longtime rival Jon Jones in 2015 where the fighter called Jones a ‘p***y’.
Riddle spent five years as part of the UFC and compiled a 7-3 record with the promotion.
He was released from the company after failing multiple drug tests for testing positive for marijuana.

Riddle instead turned his attention to professional wrestling and has worked his way up to becoming one of the biggest names in WWE.
