Raphaël Varane is looking forward to the beginning of Manchester United's pre-season tour, which starts on the 12th of July with a game against rivals Liverpool, with the Frenchman seeing the upcoming season as a "new start".
The highly decorated centre-back didn't have the best of debut seasons at Manchester United as it was blighted by injuries, which meant that Varane was unable to get a consistent run of games under his belt, directly affecting his form.
Manchester United signed Varane for a relatively modest fee of £34 million, rising to £41 million depending on add ons. Varane’s unveiling back on 14 August 2021, just before the club’s opening game of the Premier League season against Leeds United, was one for the history books.

Unfortunately for many United fans, that day was pretty much the highlight of the season, with the 2021/22 campaign being a dismal one from almost the start until the end.
Luckily for Raphaël Varane and United fans all around the world, the 2021/22 season can now be forgotten and filed away, with the only reason why it could raise its ugly head in the future is because of the unwanted record of Manchester United having their lowest ever points tally at the end of a Premier League season.
Although the recent past has been terrible, the near future under Erik ten Hag is looking extremely bright, with fans and players alike eager for this new chapter of the club to begin.

Marcus Rashford has already expressed his excitement for the pre-season tour and the new season and Varane is no different.
In an interview with the club’s media ahead of United’s tour of Malaysia, Australia and Norway, Varane was positive saying:
"It’s a new season, it’s a new start, so everyone is excited to know about the new manager.”
Ten Hag is known for his perfection of training sessions and United's No.19 knows that hard work is coming to get success back where it belongs at the club.

"Obviously, we want to do well and win every game so, for this, we’ll have to prepare for the new season, and I think it’s important for us to train hard and be ready.
"We want to be ready for the new season," the 29 year old reinforced. "We need to work very hard and there will be a lot of training sessions, and a lot of games, so I think it will be interesting and a great moment to work very hard and to prepare for the season."
Like his teammates, Varane is pleased to be able to travel for the pre-season tour again, as he enjoys the unique feeling that surrounds the tour.

"I think it’s a different atmosphere, it’s pre-season so we have to get fit, we have to prepare, I think it’s always exciting to play in front of our fans around the world, it’s a good experience for us, and it’s a good moment to prepare for the season."
Raphaël Varane will be a player that is closely watched by the fans in the new era of ten Hag ss he hasn't been able to show the ability that has allowed him to gain such an impressive resume.
If injuries aren't as big of a problem in this upcoming season then Varane will show his world class quality and should help United be more solid at the back.
Erik ten Hag is set to start pre-season on 27 June for players not currently away on international duty, with the rest joining shortly before the club take on Liverpool in Bangkok on 12 July in the first of six pre-season friendlies.
