Tottenham Hotspur's attempts to sign out-of-form Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford were 'rebuffed', with the 24-year-old wanting to remain at Old Trafford to try and impress new manager Erik ten Hag, according to reports.
It was an extremely difficult campaign last year for the winger who started the season on the treatment table after battling injuries for the prior two years.
Rashford returned to action with an initial bang, scoring three times in his first four games back from injury in October. However, following on from that, the Englishman's form fell off a cliff.

He scored just two more goals during the season, with both of them coming from the bench. By the end of the season, he was surpassed by Anthony Elanga in the pecking order.
Antonio Conte's Spurs instead came into life as the season went on and they snuck into the fourth spot ahead of Arsenal, securing Champions League qualification for next season.
The Times have reported that the North London club wanted to add a flexible forward player, who can play across the frontline and Marcus Rashford was a name on their list.

After his torrid season at United, Tottenham hoped that they'd be able to help the England international rediscover his best form at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Rashford being a homegrown talent was another benefit for Spurs, and he also has just a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
Despite all of this, the club from the capital were told that Rashford wants to stay at United and attempt to impress the new manager from Ajax, Erik ten Hag.

The report also goes onto mention that the Red Devils have opened talks with Rashford over a new contract this summer, showing that the club trust him to rediscover the frightening form that he had for stretches of 2019/20 and 2020/21, where he scored 43 goals for the club.
The incoming Dutch manager should be able to help multiple United players find their form of old, but will also be dipping into the transfer market to enhance the squad that finished sixth in the Premier League last season.
The report from before also goes on to mention that Ten Hag accepts that the job is going to be a difficult one, and while there is transfer activity in the works, there is a feeling from the new manager that he sees potential in a number of players in the squad that underperformed massively under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Rangnick Rangnick last term.
Yet, he also accepts that fresh blood is needed at the Theatre of Dreams if they are going to improve next campaign. With the club exploring the possibility of bringing Ten Hag's former midfielder at Ajax from 2017 to 2019, Frenkie de Jong, to Old Trafford.

However, it is understood that United are not close to finalising anything in that deal ahead of the window opening on the 10th of May.
