Christian Eriksen has reportedly verbally agreed to join Manchester United this summer on a free transfer, according to the latest reports.
Eriksen has been a major target for Erik ten Hag as the Dutchman looks to rebuild a club that has been taking a nosedive for a decade, and sees the Danish midfielder as a vital addition to the squad.
Signing for Brentford in January after Inter Milan had to let the player go due to heart problems suffered in the EUROs last summer, Eriksen has lit up the Premier League with multiple stellar performances for the Bees.

According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, Eriksen has now expressed a desire to join the Dutchman at Old Trafford for the coming season.
Manchester United have reportedly offered the player a three year contract, and Eriksen has communicated that he wishes to take up this offer.
Eriksen has plenty of Premier League experience previously to playing for Brentford, as he became a main man for Tottenham Hotspur after signing for the club after Gareth Bale left for a world-record fee to Real Madrid in 2013.

Eriksen’s performances earned the highest recognition under former Manchester United managerial target Mauricio Pochettinho, where he once scored against Manchester United just 11 seconds into a match back in January 2018.
He left the North London outfit in 2020 after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho and joined Inter Milan that January, however his health complications meant his contract was eventually terminated due to Serie A rules related to heart problems in professional sport.
After leaving Inter Milan, he trained with the Jong Ajax side, where Erik ten Hag was able to view the player’s performance and dedication to training up close, and was reportedly very impressed with the Dane’s work ethic.
The next step in the process of signing Eriksen once contracts are drafted and agreed is the player’s medical.

There is not expected to be any problems in this regard, however after Eriksen collapsed on the pitch in Euro 2020 after suffering a cardiac arrest he was fitted with a cardioverter-defibrillator, which means the player’s medical will be a significant but manageable hurdle in getting him wearing the red of Manchester.
