Manchester United have turned their attention to current Brentford creator Christian Eriksen, as they look to bolster their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season through the Premier League’s top four.
Manchester United have allowed four midfielders to leave the club this summer already this summer.
The club announced last week that Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard would all be departing the red side of Manchester for free, as none of these three players would be extending their current deals at the club, which all end on the 30th of this month.

With Erik ten Hag clearly keen to start working with his squad as soon as possible, it is safe to assume he will want transfer business to be concluded in an equally timely manner too - and with the loss of four midfielders this early in the window, it is no surprise that United are being linked with multiple midfielders already, such as Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
However, the latest player to have reportedly caught the eye of Ten Hag is former Tottenham star, Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen, after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 almost one year ago, has since switched his post at the Italian Inter Milan for the more familiar surroundings of London, playing for Brentford since the end of January, where he has settled straight back into his Premier League rhythm like he never left.

Scoring one and assisting four in 11 league appearances for the Bees, Eriksen gave the boys in red and white just the boost they needed to finish a very impressive 13th position in their inaugural Premier League campaign - helping them win seven of their final 12 matches after his debut.
Erik ten Hag has seen Eriksen train up close, as the Dane trained with the Jong Ajax squad to regain fitness after successfully recovering from his cardiac arrest and signing for Brentford.
During this period, Ten Hag was reportedly impressed with the desire Eriksen showed in training, and his subsequent performances last season have only affirmed the Dutchman’s belief that the creator can help him rebuild the current mess that is Manchester United.

With the aforementioned four midfielders leaving the club, Christian Eriksen would provide Ten Hag with a frankly brilliant alternative to the misfiring Bruno Fernandes, and provide competition for both the Portuguese and Donny van de Beek, who will no doubt be at the forefront of Ten Hag’s mind after his incredible displays under him during Ajax’s memorable 2019 Champions League run.
