Manchester United fly to Cyprus to face Omonia Nicosia tomorrow in the third round of the Europa League group stage and the match officials have been confirmed.
Manchester United will hope to put their embarrassing 6-3 defeat in the Manchester derby at the weekend behind them as they face Cyprus' most successful team in the Red Devils latest Europa League fixture.
Erik ten Hag’s men will be wanting a return to winning ways in the European competition as last time out United lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad thanks to a dubious penalty decision which left many fans angry at full time.
Advert
Omonia are yet to pick up a point in the group and look like they have come at the best time for United after their humbling at the weekend and the players could take their frustrations out on the Cypriot side.
Ahead of the game here’s a look at the confirmed match officials:
Match referee
João Pinheiro is the man in charge of Thursday's Europa League clash and the 34 year old will be assisted by his Portuguese countrymen throughout the evening.
Pinheiro has refereed in the Europa League three times prior but has made regular appearances in his domestic league, Primeira Liga.
Advert
In his last five games João Pinheiro has given out 23 yellow cards and one penalty. Pinheiro doesn’t seem as eager to influence the game as United’s previous European referee Marco Di Bello and that could be a good thing.
Assistant referees
Flanking Pinheiro is the pair of Bruno Jesus and Luciano Maia. The duo have refereed a combined total of 342 games in their career.
Fourth official
The man in the middle of Erik ten Hag and Neil Lennon will be António Nobre.
Video assistant referees
The two officials in charge of VAR are Luis Godinho and his assistant Helder Malheiro.
