Manchester United reportedly see Scottish international Scott McTominay as a key part of the club's future going forward.
With current reports indicating that Manchester United will be bringing in midfield reinforcements in Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen in the near future, it appears that McTominay will also be a part of United’s midfield alongside the pair.
The 25-year-old midfielder who has been a part of the United system since the age of five, is reportedly seen as an “integral part of the squad.”

According to the report from Paul Hirst & Paul Joyce of The Times, the 34 time capped Scotland international is seen by new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag as a vital part of his first team plans.
Additionally, it was noted in the report that United will resist any and all transfer approaches for the player. This comes after Newcastle reportedly enquired about McTominay’s availability earlier on this summer.
Despite this earlier enquiry, United state that they have not received any formal approaches for the midfielder. However, it was added that if they were to receive a formal offer for the long-serving Scotsman, they would reject it.

McTominay, who first made his debut for the club against Arsenal back in 2017, has three years left on his current deal at the club.
Like his new manager who wants to see McTominay remain at the club, the midfielder is “determined to stay and be part of the rebuilding process that is being undertaken by Ten Hag.”
As aforementioned, Manchester United’s public pursuit of both Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen are reportedly beginning to reach their final stages.
The club are greatly in need of midfield reinforcements following several exits in the position. Already this summer, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic have departed the club.

Meanwhile, it looks like Andreas Pereira is set to sign for newly-promoted Premier League club Fulham.
Eriksen is believed to be planning to communicate his next transfer move to the clubs that have enquired over his services in the coming days.
The Danish international is believed to see the possibility of playing alongside Frenkie de Jong as highly appealing.

In the case of De Jong, the latest reports are indicating that the deal is now “90% done.”
The Barcelona midfielder is reportedly set to cost United a base fee of £56m ahead of additional fees related to the player’s performance.
Earlier this week, United’s pursuit of De Jong revealed that club captain Harry Maguire like McTominay is not for sale.

Additionally, it was reported last week that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be sold this window, despite Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes offering the striker to several clubs.
