Manchester United have moved to hijack a deal between Lyon and Feyenoord for young Dutch defender, Tyrell Malacia.
Reports have emerged that Manchester United opened talks with Feyenoord in a last-ditch attempt to secure a deal for the talented fullback before he signed with Ligue 1 side, Lyon.

Football reporter, Fabrizio Romano, reported on twitter that United had opened talks with Feyenoord surrounding the possibility of reaching a deal involving Malacia, with Dutch sources allegedly confirming such talks were occurring.
Martijn Krabbendam of Voetbal International has since reported that Manchester United have reached an agreement with Feyenoord for the left-back.
He also states that the choice of club now up to Malacia himself.
This could prove to be a huge success for the club, should United pull off the hijack, with fans crying out for new arrivals at Old Trafford.

Malacia’s position as a left-back is an area that needs addressing in this window by the Reds, following sub-standard performances from current left back options, Luke Shaw and Alex Telles in the 2021/22 season.
The 22 year-old made 50 appearances across all competitions for Feyenoord in the 2021/22 season, including 32 in the Eredivisie.
He was rewarded for his breakthrough season with a senior debut for the Netherlands national team in September 2021, with the defender seemingly taking his chance on the international stage, having made four more subsequent appearances since his debut.
Malacia would be Erik ten Hag’s first signing since becoming the manager at Manchester United, despite exhaustive interest in a number of targets including; Frenkie de Jong, Antony, Darwin Nunez, Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez.
United had previously been linked to David Raum of Hoffenheim earlier in the window.

But these links amounted to little in the way of concrete activity on the end of United.
Should the Dutch international decide on a move to Old Trafford this summer, he could become a regular fixture in the upcoming season.
Despite more experienced competition in the likes of Luke Shaw and Alex Telles, he will provide a fresh and energetic option.

Even if he isn’t a regular starter however, the defender can expect to get a large number of minutes, with the Reds involved in four competitions across the 2022/23 season.Â
It could end up being a double swoop this week for United, with advancements being made in the deal for Frenkie de Jong as well.
